Choosing a coach to work with is different than choosing to buy a course. Clients can buy multiple courses and don’t have to commit to just one course out of all the courses in the world.
However, folks tend to be a lot more choosy about selecting a coach. After all, they are committing to a relationship with you and choosing to work with you out of all the other coaches they have access to.
So, when it comes to a decision like that, they are a lot more selective.
They usually choose a coach they know, like, and trust. KLT.
You can write and speak in ways that encourage them to know you, like you, and trust you.
One of the best ways to do this is to be authentic. Be your true self in words and actions. Be open. Be transparent. Be willing to be known.
Your character can be evident in your writing and speaking. Your posts, videos, and lead magnets can show honesty and integrity.
They can also show your passion and personality.
Authenticity and transparency allow you to show up as a coach exactly as you are.
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to hide your struggles.
Showing up authentically and with transparency allows your prospects to know you. Not just know your name, but know who are you as a person.
Showing up authentically and with transparency also allows people to like you. Sometimes we are afraid that not everyone will like us so we hide or obfuscate who we are.
But we want folks to know us and to decide if they like us!
If they don’t like us, that’s great! That means they would do better with someone else as their coach. It’s so much better to have the prospect figure that out before choosing us than to do business with someone who is a poor fit for us. Who doesn’t like who we are when we are authentic and transparent.
But if they do like us, that’s awesome!
Lastly, they want to know if they can trust us. If we can deliver on our promises. If we are good at what we do.
What we write and what we say should show our competence. One of the ways I like to do this is to always give a little bit of information that makes reading what I write or listening to what I say a value-added experience.
By sharing some useful information, I show my value and I show appreciation for their time reading what I wrote or listening to what I said.
If you can provide an “a-ha moment” to your prospect, you show your competence and inspire confidence. You build trust.
Look at your web copy or your lead magnet – do you see anywhere that you help the prospect to know you, like you, and trust you?
If you do, put in content that shows authenticity, transparency, and competence! Build up that KLT factor!
