Hmm. I think I missed that part of the call where this was discussed.
I guess I should ask if the intent of the Ask Anything forum is strictly for asking questions, or is it also intended as a place for us to post informative articles.
If it is for asking questions with the expectation someone will reply with an answer, how about, “Get your questions answered” for a name.
Please let me know if I have misunderstood as I am trying to get more familiar with the forum areas.

Great question Howard
right now it’s a catchall
I think in reality we need 3 places:
a question place
an articles/posting place
a discussion place

Thanks for your ideas.
3 separate areas strikes me as useful!
Not posted much because not sure which of these types of things are appropriate — and felt awkward when I clicked through the email asking about 2019 and put my challenge there.

Dr Rick AllenParticipant
For the question, part consider, ASK THE EXPERTS

I like Ask the Experts. And I also really like Sean’s idea of three separate places.

I agree that “Ask the Experts” is an excellent name.
I like the idea Sean has of three separate areas as well. I think that would clear up any confusion.

Good question Cynthia.
I’m hesitant about posting because I’m not sure where we are headed with this.
I like all the answers.
Sean’s three categories which makes the forum become more specific.
Also, Dr Rick’s, “Ask the Experts”
Or something referring to expertise which I believe most of us have a high degree of, although like me, it might be disorganized or hodgepodge.
But with a little work and participation we can each iron out our wrinkles.

I too support Sean’s three categories.
I know that the majority went for Ask the Experts and I like that very much. It speaks directly to expertise and adds instant credibility.
On the other hand, I somewhat prefer ‘Get you questions answered’. It immediately tells my mind the outcome. Although the first suggestion (Ask The Experts) implies this.
Perhaps, Get your questions answered from the Experts! Maybe it’s too long. I’m willing to go along with whatever is decided.
They’re both great suggestions.

Great ideas! I’d love to get more consensus on a name before I make a change . .
One thought, this will be a bit of background . . .
Conventional thought about growing something big is to start smaller, and allow it to grow virally . . . then as one category, for lack of a better word, outgrows itself, then you split into two sub categories (again, lack of a better word)
Then split again, etc.
Of course, I jumped the gun with the various topical forums, as of course they aren’t getting as much use (and part of that is that I don’t have them listed as the go-to, which may be the solution)
So . . . in thinking about an articles section, I’m considering retrenching on the multiple topical forums (just thinking, I’m looking for feedback from YOU !!)
Going with a full scale articles section.
Then that leaves the 3 forums mentioned earlier, and many folks like the idea of:
a question place
an articles/posting place
a discussion place
the challenge right now is that we aren’t getting enough activity to justify splitting the discussion from the questions . . they will each look bleak (average last post time of hours instead of 90 minutes)
And even with the split right now with the Inner Circle forum separate – you can probably see a distinct difference in quality of post . . in the current Ask Anything forum, we are getting good strong discussion, folks helping each other . .
but the Inner Circle feels like a place for venting . . .
and just not congruent with what we are trying to do here!
Now, I’m being very very transparent here, and for those of you who are watching how I release this, you are watching the traffic grow, and you are watching the roll-out – I feel like you want to see these things, these struggles SO THAT when you launch your own community or big site, you can be prepared for these struggles, and perhaps even head some off.
So . . . .I’m game for multiple areas, but need commitment from folks in the Inner Circle – at least until the paid traffic, starting next week, catches up and we see more virality – to help keep the threads current. . .
So . . in that vein, would love it if a few folks would show support by posting one of two things (or both) in the Inner Circle:
An offer to help other Inner Circle Members with whatever you do well ( and let’s face it, you might could use the experience and practice giving a little advice and hope, sometimes it’s so easy to keep waiting for your site to blow up with facebook traffic . . . but then when you get a hot lead, you aren’t practiced enough to convert it . . .)
AND/OR an ASK for help . . .
This will the Inner Circle forum begin to be more balanced, and be more robust like the regular Forum is . . .
I’d love for you to post one of the two (or both) here:
And of course, if you see an offer for help . . take someone up.
If you make an offer to help . . . consider it practice.
You might be amazed at what happens.
There are tons of relationships and 7 levels deep relationships to be had in this group . . . but let’s take action to dig into them!!
January 11, 2019 at 9:28 am #2508
Will you migrate the existing articles from their current forums into the respective article categories when the time comes?
January 11, 2019 at 10:43 am #2522
I can’t promise HOW the migration etc will happen as I am still experimenting with the right software to make the articles great! However I CAN tell you this . . you won’t lose anything, as I suspect that is your fear 🙂
The articles will either a) remain or b) be moved
So no fear in continuing to post articles . . .
Looking for lots of traction this weekend so we show lots of activity for Monday’s launch and opening!

Yes. I was concerned that my posts might end up in some backwater of the website. I should know by now that you wouldn’t let that happen. 🙂
